The battery is probably low and needs to be changed, or the detector may be worn out or faulty and in need of replacement. Batteries should be replaced annually and the detectors should be replaced every ten years.

Q: When am I considered an adult?

Any violation involving a subject age 17 and over is considered an adult except for the charges of Truancy, Tobacco Violation and Curfew.

When you have more than one fine to pay or any restitution to pay on a certain case, any money you pay will be applied to the restitution first and then the oldest fine 2nd.

No, only if your violation is a MANDATORY APPEARANCE, which should be marked on your citation or if there is restitution involved or Damage to Property.

Q: How do I go about paying my fine before my court date?

You can pay your fine by check (WI check only) or cash or money order 24 hours at the Brodhead Police Department at 1004 W. Exchange St. in Brodhead, or mail it to Brodhead Municipal Court at PO Box 168, Brodhead, WI 53520. You will only get a receipt if you include a self-addressed stamped envelope. If you have posted a cash deposit and fail to appear in Court, the cash bond would be applied towards your fine.

Q: If I am already suspended for failure to pay a fine what do I do to get my license back?

You have to pay the fine at the agency you were suspended at. You have to get a receipt showing the fine is paid in full. MAKE SURE THE CITATION NUMBER IS ON THE RECEIPT. You should also get a copy of the suspension form that was sent to DOT (Department of Transportation) showing that the fine is paid in full. You then take that to a DOT center and get reinstated. I believe there is a $50.00 reinstatement fee you have to pay before you get your license back.

The Miranda Warning are only required to be read to a person who is being arrested for a CRIME. Municipal Courts do not hear CRIMINAL violations.

We can check availability of pavilions on a specified date over the telephone, but to reserve the pavilion, you will need to come to the Brodhead Parks & Recreation office to complete the Reservation Agreement form and pay the $25.00 fee. Reservations begin annually in January.

The Brodhead Parks & Recreation accepts applications January through February for anyone 16 and over. Applications can be picked up at the park and recreation office.

The Brodhead Parks and Recreation Department participates in the popular W.P.R.A. Discount Ticket Program. Tickets can be purchased at the swimming pool during open pool hours.

The Youth ball Sign-Up is March 24th & March 25th at the Bank of Brodhead courtesy room, you still can sign your child up, however there will be a $5.00 late fee after April 9th.

You can request, but there is no guarantee. To prevent teams from "stacking" or "loading up", requests may be denied. However parents wanting siblings on the same team will be granted.

A resident is considered someone who lives in the city limits of Brodhead, whose taxes go to the city. A non-resident, also considers Brodhead their home, but lives outside the city limits and pays their taxes to a township.

Q: What is the PCAC charge on my bill?

The PCAC is basically a fuel charge adjustment. The rate changes each month depending on the wholesale cost that Brodhead Water & Light pays to purchase electricity. Some months, you will note that the PCAC is a charge on your bill, other months, it could be a credit to your bill. During months when there is a great demand for electricity (summer/winter) the cost to buy power is generally higher.

Bills are sent out so the customer receives them by the 1st of each month and are due by the 20th of the month. If the 20th falls on a Saturday, the bill can be paid at the local banks or put in our drop box. It is still due on the 20th. If the 20th falls on a Sunday, the due date is the 21st.

If you notice any discoloration of your water, especially when we’re flushing hydrants, run your cold water for a few minutes to clear it up, if it still remains discolored, contact the water and light.

You can pay your bill at the Bank of Brodhead, Sugar River Bank or the Water & Light office. You can also drop you payment at the Water & Light after hours in the night deposit, or send your bill by mail.
