Pietenpol and Pancake Breakfast Fly-ins
|
|
|
Brodhead's airport, which consists of 88 acres of grass, trees, 50 hangars, and three grass runways was established in 1946. Each year, usually during May, they have a Fly-in, Drive-in Pancake Breakfast, and during the July weekend before the EAA's Fly-in in Oshkosh, Brodhead hosts the Pietenpol Fly-in. Annual Amish School Fund-raiser

|
Hundreds flock to the annual Amish School Fund-raiser each summer. The sale takes place the last Saturday of July, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Many come before 8 a.m. to view the items to be auctioned off. Among the items are beautiful hand-made quilts, handmade furniture and antiques. Stroll along the grounds and buy tasty Amish baked goods, homemade ice cream and other delicious treats, and admire the strong work horses. Not far from the school, which is at the corner of Atkinson Road and STH 104, you will find Detweiler Kauffman Furniture, where you may purchase beautiful Amish-made furniture year-round. Tour the Farms Day
|

|
Tour the Farms Day is held in Brodhead in May and features five farms. The tour provides an opportunity to see how a working farm functions and produces, increasing agriculture awareness. The five farms that took part in
2008 were Morningstar Farm, Sugar Maple Emu Farm; Scotch Hill Farm, Kinkoona Farm and Nieman Family Farm. Morningstar Farm, owned by Brett and Vickie Condon and located at 4737 South County Road T, features organic fruits and vegetables. Sugar Maple Emu Farm, owned by Mike and Joylene Reavis at W80S Pedee Road, features emu pen tours, emu meat tasting, decorating of emu eggs and introduction of other emu products. Scotch Hill Farm, owned by Dela and Tony Ends at 910 South Scotch Hill Road, features goats, vegetable gardens and soap. The Nieman Family Farm, owned by Joel and Kathy Nieman at W1614 Highway F, provides a look at the function of a dairy farm.

Twilight in the Park Concerts

|
What better way is there to spend a relaxing summer Sunday evening than listening to a concert in the park? Twilight in the Park concerts are a series of free concerts held from 6:30 until 8 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Park in downtown Brodhead. Concerts begin in June and conclude at the end of August. Concerts are coordinated by the Business Improvement District and sponsored by local businesses and clubs. In case of rain, the concerts are moved to the UCC church at 204 East 23rd Street.

Covered Bridge Days
|
|
|
During the second weekend of August each year, Brodhead hosts an entertaining weekend of bridging yesterday with tomorrow with something interesting for everyone. Among the many activities are a fun run, a garden display, a tractor show with a thresheree and tractor pull, pony rides, a toy tractor pull, a flea market, an EMS rummage sale, sidewalk sales, a Model A antique car display and another classic car show, historical tours, a cemetery walk in Greenwood Cemetery, a jazz fest, volleyball and softball tournaments, a dance, an old fashioned church service, a garden model train display, a parade, and food stands and beer gardens. Other special events are often included such as a historical style show and tea party, Civil War reenactments, and lumberjack shows. Craft Fairs

In March and in November, the Brodhead Jaycees sponsor art and craft fairs.

AutumnFest
|
|
|
During the last Saturday of each September, come to Brodhead for AutumnFest!
The many fun activities include a chili contest, music, a farmers' market, children's activities, food booths, sidewalk craft vendors and a bike tour!

Christmas Walk
|
|
|
Nothing can kick off the Christmas holiday better than taking time to enjoy the annual Christmas Walk in Brodhead with carriage rides, lighted parade, memory tree lighting/memorial wreath and Friday night luminarias the first weekend of December. Pretty lights and seasonal music greet you as you find bargains and that special something for the people on your shopping list.
