Half Way Tree
Indians once told early settlers of Brodhead about a bur oak tree that marks the half way point from the Great Lakes to the Mississippi River. A U.S. survey team found that the Indian runners had been remarkably accurate.
This tree is still located south of Brodhead two miles on Half-Way Tree Road!
