1000 Books Before Kindergarten
1,ooo Books Before Kindergarten is a new library program at our library. We want to encourage famlies and caregivers to read 1,000 books with young children before they enter kindergarten. Families who start reading aloud to their children at birth help to develop their early literacy skills, strengthen their language skills and build their vocabulary. These are important tools that will help them learn to read.
Register: Click on the link in the left-hand menu to sign up and get started! After registration, you will receive your first reading log.
Track your reading: Each time you read a book with your child, write the title on the reading log.
Show your reading log: When you have filled the reading log with 100 book titles, bring it to the library. The incentives for reading will be given to the child at every 100 books.
Celebrate your completion: Each child that reaches the 1,000 book goal will receive a special tshirt and an invitation to a special activity.
Storytimes are on Fridays at 10:00 a.m. during the school year.
Featuring stories, rhymes, songs, crafts and games for ages 3 and up.
Toddler Time! is on Thursdays at 10:00 a.m. in March and October of each year.
This storytime is designed for children ages 12 months to 36 months of age.
Parents and caregivers are asked to sit with their child during the storytime and help them participate in the activities. The storytime includes picture books, songs, fingerplays and fun. As we read, sing, talk and play together, we will be supporting your child’s early literacy skills.
Please call the library to register.
