The Public Safety Committee meets once a month on the Wednesday prior to the second Monday of each month at 4:00 p.m. in the City Hall Conference Room. General items discussed relate to public safety, licensing of establishments, operators (bartenders), and considering permits for various public events. Public Safety also works with the Building Inspector on various zoning issues that effect public safety. Board of Appeals Member:
Board of Appeals meets on an "as needed" basis. Zoning variances are requested by citizens, and the Board of Appeals will make a decision based on ordinances and the citizen's proof of hardship by conforming to the City Ordinances. Historic Preservation Member:
The Historic Preservation Committee meets the 4th Thursday of each month at 7PM in the City Hall Conference Room.
A Historic Preservation Commission is hereby created, consisting of seven (7) members. Of the membership, if available in the community, one (1) shall be a registered architect; one (1) shall be a historian; one (1) shall be a licensed real estate broker, one (1) shall be an alderman; and three (3) shall be citizen members. Each member shall have, to the highest extent practicable, a known interest in historic preservation. The Mayor shall appoint the Commissioners subject to the confirmation by Common Council. Of the initial members so appointed, two (2) shall serve a term of one (1) year, two (2) shall serve a term of two (2) years, and three (3) shall serve a term of three (3) years. Thereafter, the term for each member shall be three (3) years.
Emergency Management Committee Member:
Emergency Management meets once per month on the 2nd Wednesday at 10AM in the City Hall Conference Room.
The purpose of this committee is to establish an Emergency Management Program which provides the resources for the implementation of the policies and procedures necessary to manage the community's needs during emergency situations.
Brodhead Schools Volunteers Sought:
The Brodhead Schools need volunteers for many different activities including but not limited to reading tutoring, homework help, supervision, and math tutoring. Volunteers will find a role to fit almost any schedule and any age group they prefer! To get more information call:
